Wedding Planning: VenueOctober 19, 2015 by The Marquardt Ranch
If you’re a new bride joining us on the blog, you’ve picked the perfect time. Over the next few weeks, we’ll spend time looking at each facet of the wedding planning process. We’ll give you a checklist for each point on the wedding planning journey, and you’ll be able to use this blog as a platform for brainstorming. (Don’t forget to check back via our Facebook or Instagram page each Monday for more tips and tricks along the way!)
As they say, it’s always best to begin at the beginning. That means this week we’re looking at the venue, where all the magic begins! Your venue is the first choice you and your fiance should make regarding your upcoming wedding. All other choices stem from your venue choice. It dictates your wedding date, and, thus, your photographer, stationery, guest list, and all other facets of your wedding.
The first step in choosing your wedding venue involves some day dreaming. Take some time with your fiance to talk about how you want your wedding day to look and feel. Choose the season you’d prefer to get married in, and pick out some photos of weddings you like. Then begin your search. We love websites like The Knot and Wedding Wire that let you narrow down choices based on your city, price point and other criteria.
Next, peruse the websites of your potential wedding venues and narrow it down to a list of 3-5 spots. Before you leave for your venue appointments, select 2-3 possible wedding dates, and don’t forget to take our checklist with you. There are lots of questions to ask your potential venue so you can make the best decision possible.
Lastly, your venue will dictate the entire atmosphere of your wedding day. Be sure it’s a place that looks and feels like who you are as a couple. If you’re classic and traditional, don’t choose a trendy, rustic barn. If you’re free spirited and spontaneous, don’t choose a hotel ballroom. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box either. Do you have family members or friends with large backyards? Do you know anyone with a beach house? Could you see yourself as a destination wedding bride? Nothing is too far out of the question in this stage of wedding planning!
As a wedding venue, we’d love the chance to meet with you and your fiance. Our space is located on the Guadalupe River in Boerne, TX. You can be married outdoors beneath a beautiful arch along the river and dance the night away with your friends and family inside our mission style hall. Contact us here for more information. In the meantime, don’t stop dreaming and planning for your special day!
