Wedding Planning Tips—4 Months OutMarch 6, 2017 by The Marquardt Ranch
Brides, we’re back with another post in our Wedding Planning series, and this time we’re taking a more focused look at what you should do when your wedding day is four months out. Give or take a week or so, but generally speaking you will want to make sure these items are checked off your To Do list four months out from your wedding so you can keep stress to a minimum and focus on last minute details as it gets closer to your big day.
Purchase Underwear and Shoes
Believe it or not, your undergarments are as important as your dress—especially on your wedding day. Not only do they need to work well with your gown — no colors or lines showing through, but they need to be comfortable as well. You will want your mind on your groom and on all the special moments of your wedding day rather than on underwear that is uncomfortable or needs continually adjusted throughout the day. You will also want to get your shoes around this point of time so you have plenty of time to wear them around and make sure they will be suitable for both fashion and function. Don’t forget to keep in mind your various needs like flats for dancing, wedges for pictures, and heels for the ceremony. Yes, it’s okay to have three pairs of shoes for your wedding day!
Buy Groom’s Attire
You’ve probably already picked out and purchased your perfect wedding dress, but it’s important for the groom to look sharp, too. Shop for a tux about four months before the wedding day—if it needs alterations, that gives you plenty of time to have it tailored to your needs. On the other hand, if you’re renting a tux, booking early lets you make sure that the suit will be available on the day you need it.
Send Wedding Invitations
If you haven’t sent out your invites yet, now is definitely the time. You want your guests to have plenty of time to make travel arrangements, schedule time off work, and just prepare overall. It also gives them time to RSVP, and you time to make any last minute adjustments.
Purchase Wedding Rings
Four months from the wedding day is a good time to purchase your wedding bands. Do some visualizing exercises and online window shopping before you ever set foot in a jewelry store. Having an idea of what you want ahead of time will make the rest of the process that much easier. Keep in mind that your wedding bands will typically be something that you wear day-in and day-out, so comfort is important!
Organize Dress Fittings
With the wedding only a few months away, it’s definitely time to plan your dress fittings. Alterations take time, so scheduling them four months out will give you plenty of time to get them done and make any last-minute adjustments without anyone being stressed their dress won’t fit for the wedding.
Schedule Hair and Make-up Trial
You’ll want to set up a test run of your hair and makeup well before your wedding day. That way you’ll have plenty of time to adjust if you change your mind on what you thought you wanted in terms of style for your hair and colors for your makeup. Nailing down these two things four months in advance will give you the peace of mind knowing you won’t need a hair or makeup re-do on the day of.
We hope you are able to cross these items off your To Do list without a hitch as you move closer to your wedding day! Happy planning!
