Bridal Fashion Week in NYC
Let’s get up close and personal with the collections from some of the top designers represented at the Fall 2014 Bridal Fashion Week in NYC. Plunging necklines, color, blingy embellishments, open backs, cutouts and long sleeves all made their way into many of the collections.
Our absolute favorite bridal designs were the muted pastel gowns from Monique Lhuillier‘s jewelry box themed show. You can’t go wrong with colors such as blush, pistachio, lavender, and honey. What a statement this collection made!
Claire Pettibone‘s latest wedding dress collection is called “Gothic Angel” and she couldn’t have found a better name. She drew inspiration from iconic cathedrals like Notre Dame, Westminster Abbey, and St. Patrick’s. Angelic ribbons, lace sheaths, voluminous sheer sleeves, cathedral length veils, and silver spotted lace were just a few of the angelic elements. But by far, the most stunning of her collection were those dresses that included opulent lace appliqués over illusion backs. Simply gorgeous.
The back of the dresses once again stole the show on the Ines di Santo runway. While the fronts of most of her designs were sleek and slimming, the backs were quite the opposite. Ruffles, full petticoats, and layers upon layers of fabric were used to create full designs, allowing for ample movement. We love these “business in the front, party in the back” gowns!
As usual, Reem Acra did not disappoint. Unlike di Santo, these new designs were sleek and fitted with cut outs, lace appliqués and sheer details adding appeal. The use of floral details in several of the gowns was a surprising yet artistically elegant twist.
