September 2, 2014 by Jennifer Speer

Did you know there happens to be an official color of the year? Well, there is. Pantone, globally renowned color charters, announced ’Radiant Orchid’ as the official Color Of The Year 2014. We are definitely seeing this color throughout the wedding industry too, from flowers to food, and everything else associated with weddings!

“Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

This multifaceted shade pairs well with its sister shades of lavender, purple and pink, providing an assortment of lipstick and blush options.

As you search wedding magazines, websites, and Pinterest boards, you are sure to see the color blush used as the central color for all types of weddings, regardless of the style. Blush tends to be a very light peach or pink color. Used in the lighter variety, the color can serve as a neutral hue, grounding a much brighter color. In a slightly darker shade of peach or pink, blush will serve you well as the theme color for your wedding. Take a look at some of the ways we’re seeing it used.
