2017 Trends: Spring WeddingsApril 10, 2017 by The Marquardt Ranch
Spring has finally arrived, and with it comes new wedding trends! If you’re tying the knot this season and are looking for some last-minute inspiration, check out these ideas.
Brides this season are embracing sleek ponytails and elegant ballerina buns as much as the romantic and boho styles of recent years. The polished elegance of these styles are both sophisticated and subtle.
From invitations to table settings, watercolor palettes are everywhere. You can incorporate this trend into your wedding by using watercolor stationary for place cards, menus, or programs. Another option is to make your table linens varying soft hues, mimicking the watercolor effect with the different shades of fabric.
Floral prints are great for adding fun and unexpected pops of color to your big day. Whether incorporated into your reception dress, bridesmaids dresses, or even the groom’s bow tie, floral prints are definitely on-trend.
This is a wonderfully adaptable trend that can work well with just about any style! Some realizations of this trend include chiffon over-skirts, lace mock-sweetheart necklines, or open bead-work designs at the back of the gown.
This trend can be bold or subtle, and the light contouring the varying shades give is great for helping highlight your perfect smile. Just ask your makeup artist to incorporate it into your wedding makeup, or check out this tutorial for tips to do it yourself!
Diamonds will always have their place as a traditional stone, but thanks to celebrities like Kate Middleton and Iggy Azalea with their respective blue and yellow center stones, colored gems are all the rage. This is definitely a trend to follow with caution, however, because your wedding band will hopefully be with you for the rest of your life. Make certain you really do love the idea of a colored stone before making the decision to use it in your wedding band.
Get your guests moving and chatting by letting them serve themselves! Food stations let people take what they want, and serve as a great way to get people out of their seats and talking to each other!
Last year saw a trend of bite-sized and delicate desserts, but this season we’re seeing the return of more traditional tiered cakes. This is another versatile trend, as it works well with traditional fondant-covered layers or the naked cakes that are also hot right now.
Personal touches are always appreciated, and that goes for invitations as much as anything else. Ordering a custom wedding suite is nice, but you can also add simple but equally effective personal touches by sealing each envelope with wax, or using custom stamps, or another DIY touch such as this one.
Wedding favors are nice on their own, but they can be made even better by adding a bit of wit! Gifting pun-filled but practical favors to your guests makes them all the more memorable. Consider a small pot of jam with the words “spread the love”, or a little jar of honey that reads “meant to bee”.
What 2017 trends are you incorporating into your spring wedding? We’d love to hear!
